About Lemonade Season

Me as a kid “helping” my mom in her shade garden

Chronicling my experiences with my DIY summer plant fort (which includes edibles, herbs and decorative plants) on a wee city patio and a *very* small budget. The gentle art of container gardening … by making it up as I go along. I don’t really know what I’m doing, but I’m always willing to try. Come learn with me! With occasional special guest appearances from the #tinykittenarmy.

Where did the name come from? Every summer around the beginning of April I get a craving for lemonade, and I can’t wait to plant things. For me, this season is intrinsically tangled up with teaching myself how to grow stuff and guzzling lemonade.

More about me-the-person later, but for now, the photo above is me, age about 11 or 12, “helping” my mom in her shade garden. The look on my face is totally how I feel every time I grow anything: I MADE THIS!”

A little bit of ingenuity and a willingness to try can result in awesome stuff!
